Normally we teach straight up classical ballet but Flight School is our ballet-based cardio dance workout class. This high energy calorie burning workout utilizes (optional) balletic jumping as a way of increasing strength and endurance. Flight School may be performed with low or no impact options. Appropriate for all ages and skill level students are encouraged to take it at their own pace. No ballet experience required as the choreography is intuitive. Based on the science that ballerina legs are actually developed by ballet jump training known in sport conditioning as “plyometrics”. Explosive training is the primary way one will develop the long lean muscle spindle known as “type 2 fast twitch muscle fiber”. Flight School is the only ballet barre exercise class that incorporates this type of training. Our triple sprung flooring system is the same surface utilized by professional ballet companies. If you choose to perform the workout with no impact you will still burn tons of calories and increase your strength/endurance. Students of all ages, shapes, and skill level are attending this class.
